Ed Tech and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)

With the increased use of online technologies teaching and learning in higher education, so too has there been an increase in the number of peer-reviewed journals which publish articles on how technology is being used in a wide range of academic subject areas and settings. This kind of teacher-lead research is often referred to as the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). SoTL studies, discussion papers, and other kinds of scholarly writing focusing on have appeared in The International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning (IRRODL); The Canadian Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CJSoTL); Tech Trends; and elsewhere. In this discussion-focused workshop we will identify and describe some of the leading publications which deal with learning technology and SoTL, and brainstorm ideas for educational technology-focused studies, and discuss how these could be designed, implemented, and published.
